Learn Something New in the New Year
Hope you are having good festive holidays and Happy New Year to you all.
Is your New Year resolution to learn something new? Something to uplift you and brighten your life?
Why not consider learning Indian music at VOICE. Indian music is life and soul of Indian culture. Whether you are celebrating events in your life, festivals, doing meditation or offering religious worship – music plays an important role.
We are delighted to announce that from the next term starting on a very auspicious day of Makar Sankrant, Saturday 14 Jan 2012, three new classes on Indian music will be held at VOICE.
These classes are going to be taught by Dr Vijay Rajput who is a professional music teacher and already teaches at the music colleges in Newcastle and Leeds. Dr Rajput acquired his MA, MPhil and PhD degrees in Hindustani classical music from the University of Delhi and learnt under the famous Pt Bhimsen Joshi.
If music is not your choice then why not consider our other classes which have been running for a long time. Our award winning well known Kathak dance teacher, Mrs Kajal Sharma (disciple of internationally famous Kathak guru Pundit Birjuji Maharaj) will be carrying on with her three kathak classes and taking all those who are willing to the ISTD standards.
For those who wish to dance to the popular Bollywood numbers then join our Bollywood Dance class taught by Mrs Ami Shah.
Or learn to play instruments like the Tabla taught by Shri Manjeet Singh. You also have a choice to learn Sitar / Santoor taught by Shri Harjeet Singh.
You can learn Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Sanskrit languages. We are registered with OCR for Asset Languages and GCSE so if you wish our language teachers Mrs Asha Buch, Mrs Sunita Prinja, Mr Mayank Banwari and Mrs Mansi Bhatia can deliver a formal qualification to you.
Also, you can gain unique insight into the religious traditions of India by learning about Hinduism and Sikhism. We teach the full GCSE syllabus of the OCR examination board leading to GCSE. The course is lead by Prof Nawal Prinja who has been teaching this course for over 10 years and has helped over 100 students to gain GCSE from OCR.
If you are a thinking person, how about getting to know the great Upanishads, the most thought provoking and amazing philosophical texts of the Hindu religion which are taught by Prof Nawal Prinja and Dr G L Bhan.
And for those with analytical mind, why not try our Vedic Mathematics (Quick maths) taught by Professor J Gajjar of University of Manchester. Finally, those with interest in arts are welcome to join our Indian Art & Craft class taught by Mrs Paramita Bhar. Learn bead work, flower/card making, embroidery etc. The first art & craft class is FREE.
So what ever you fancy, please come along and join us on Saturdays starting 14 Jan 2012 at MEA, Wythenshawe. Please see the attached time table.
