Edwin put all his wisdom and know-how between the sticks to good use as he coached aspiring goalies from local primary schools.He was ably assisted by 6 of our own student football coaches who all contributed and learned from the experience of working with one of the best.

We weren’t the only ones to be enthusiastic about the days events - BBC TV sent a team down to capture the occasion. 



In addition to the coaching session Van der Sar took the opportunity to view our fabulous new building.  As he toured the Academy MEA students with 100% attendance and punctuality were rewarded by being introduced to Edwin.


Van der Sar’s time with us was kindly arranged by David Gill, Manchester United Chief Executive, after being very impressed when he visited the Academy and met staff and students earlier this month. 

The visits are part of the MEA’s partnership with the Manchester United through its Foundation. The Foundation delivers football coaching, skills training, personal development and life changing experiences, providing young people with opportunities to change their lives for the better.
