Safeguarding

What is safeguarding?

Protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children's health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

We are all responsible for the welfare of children and keeping the environment safe and all staff at MEA have received the required comprehensive training on child protection and safeguarding.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at MEA is Ms J Hope, Vice Principal, supported by our Safeguarding Leads Ms Boothroyd & Ms Paxton and Ms Joyce.

If you have cause for concern about a child's welfare speak to a designated member of the Safeguarding Team at the Academy on 0161 499 2726.

Please note that in some circumstances we may need to involve other services.

Remember - If in doubt, ask.

If you feel unable to talk to someone in school you can contact the NSPCC whistleblowing advice line:

Call: 0800 028 0285

Email: help@nspcc.org.uk

The NSPCC also have a dedicated helpline for people who have experienced sexual harassment or abuse in schools. Contact Report Abuse in Education on 0800 136 663 for advice and support.

We have a number of policies in place which support our commitment to safeguarding, including a Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy which can be found on our policies page.
