Manchester United Foundation

The Manchester United Foundation's objective is to take Manchester United to the heart of the community and help young people to achieve their potential. No project has gone further in achieving this than their Partner Schools Programme. As part of this programme the Foundation has full time Community Development Officers in targeted areas to help build relationships with the local community.

Partnership with Manchester Enterprise Academy

In partnership with staff at Manchester Enterprise Academy, the Foundation delivers programmes that include:

  • Curriculum-based sessions which aim to develop both physical and life skills
  • Extra-curricular sessions
  • Football coaching
  • Leadership sessions
  • Individual mentoring sessions
  • Transition of pupils from local primary schools

The focus of the partnership with Manchester Enterprise Academy is to deliver leadership & mentoring programmes to identified students as well as provide enrichment opportunities for students. Over a period of time this helps students strive to achieve their potential and improve self-confidence and soft skills - all of which helps the students work towards their 'Fantastic Future' in the MEA way.

Manchester United Visit MEA

Our school had the incredible privilege of hosting Manchester United football players Ella Toone, Maya Le Tissier and Lisa Naalsund, thanks to our partnership with the Manchester United Foundation.

The players spent time in the library with Year 7 students, where they shared their inspiring journeys to becoming professional athletes and playing for the England team. The room buzzed with questions about the successes they’ve had and the challenges they’ve faced during their amazing careers. Then we ventured to the Astro Turf, where football practice was well underway. The players took the time for photos and autographs, and played some football with our girls team.

It was a truly special event and we are so thankful to everyone involved for making this happen at MEA.
