We are thrilled to share some wonderful news from MEA! Over the summer, Ade in Year 7 participated in the National Summer Reading Challenge 2025, a fantastic initiative run through local libraries to inspire young readers across the country.
Ade earned this prestigious recognition for her outstanding book review of A Quiet Storm by Kimberly Whittam, this year’s designated Manchester transition read. Her thoughtful and articulate response truly impressed the judges and showcased her passion for reading.
To celebrate Ade’s achievement, she was presented with a brand-new Kindle by Emma Frost from The Forum Library, in a special ceremony held in front of her form group. The celebration continued with a surprise breakfast for the whole form, reinforcing our commitment to building a strong community of belonging.
One of the most memorable moments of the morning was a personal video message from author Kimberly Whittam, congratulating Ade and expressing her joy at hearing about Ade’s success. It was a heartwarming surprise that left Ade—and all of us—feeling inspired.
As a One Education Gold Award School for Reading, we are proud to place reading at the heart of everything we do. Ade’s accomplishment is a shining example of how stories can empower, connect, and elevate young voices.
