This half term, Year 9 have been working on a Sweets project, inspired by artist Sarah Graham, who creates photorealistic paintings of sweets. Students have been developing their skills in drawing, oil pastel, and colour blending. Sienna (Twix) and James (Lolly) have produced great examples.
Mr. Simcock is very proud of the ‘Big Write’ crime fiction story that Lexi (left) wrote in response to studying ‘Sherlock Holmes and The Speckled Band’ in Year 7. Anaiya’s (right) response to feedback is a great example of how Year 8 have been practising and developing descriptive writing skills, alongside studying The Hunger Games.

Year 9 have been exploring characterisation in ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ Here is Toshi’s (left) beautifully presented analysis of Lord Capulet. As Year 10 study Macbeth in preparation for their GCSEs, it is essential that pupils make clear notes that they will be able to revise from. Zainab’s (right) is an excellent example that she will be able to make good use of in Year 11.

Vera (Y8 Design & Technology) has produced a fantastic game controller design, taking it all the way from template to a fully shaped and finished model. Her bold chalk‑pen surface design and added laser‑cut details make the final piece vibrant, creative, and beautifully executed.
Ravell (Y9 Design & Technology) has produced an impressive LED phone holder, combining precise shaping with a well‑assembled base. The illuminated engraved panel creates a striking effect, showcasing both creativity and excellent practical skills in electronics and design.
Fahar (Y11 3D Design) is showcasing a deep understanding of the project and communicating ideas with clarity and confidence. The work on display is detailed, well structured, and clearly reflects dedication, creativity, and pride in the process. A truly impressive body of work worth celebrating!
