World Book Day 2023

Posted on: 05/03/2023

On March 2nd, 2023, MEA celebrated World Book Day. The day was filled with a series of events and activities to inspire our students to explore the world of books and develop their reading skills.

One of the highlights of the day was staff from various departments dressing up in a range literary characters, including The Lord of the Rings, Peter Pan, Mr Men, Fairy Tales, The Addams Family, Macbeth and 101 DalmatiansStudents had the opportunity to vote for the best-dressed department. It was wonderful to see the creativity and effort that went into the costumes, and the Humanities department; dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland, emerged as the deserving winners for 2023.

Year 7 students were also given a free copy of Marcus Rashford's latest book, You Can Do It, donated by The Literacy Trust. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to read and explore new vocabulary from the text with their teachers during their lessons.

Another exciting activity was the Library Postcard Competition, won by Ana in Year 8. Ana received a fabulous hamper filled with goodies and her impressive design will be made into an official MEA reward postcard. Congratulations, Ana!

Overall, World Book Day was a fun, meaningful, and memorable event for everyone at MEA. We hope that the activities and events have inspired our students to continue exploring the world of literature and to develop a love for reading.
